President/Headmaster
Mr. Michael Christensen
Mr. Christensen is an expert in starting independent school programs. He brings over 18 years of public and private school leadership and instructional experience at both the primary and secondary school levels to Saratoga Academy of the Arts and Sciences. Mr. Christensen’s credentials include holding permanent NYS certification as a School District Administrator and earned a MS and CAS from the University at Albany’s School of Education Administration and Policy Studies, where he is currently completing doctoral studies in this field. Mr. Christensen is a life-long resident of the Capital District and currently resides in Clifton Park, NY.
Associate Principal
Ms. Katie Zink
Katie Zink has been with Saratoga Academy for three years. She has taught all elementary grades there and is currently teaching the multi-age class encompassing 4th, 3rd and 2nd graders. She serves as the Curriculum Coordinator and Associate Headmaster. Previously she was at Albany Community Charter School and an Independent School in FL.
Board of Trustees
The qualifications for trustees on the Saratoga Academy of the Arts and Sciences board of trustees comprise the following:
Experience and expertise in one or more of the following professional fields: education; real estate; law; fundraising/grant writing; business; technology; accounting; government; media/public relations.
In addition to the aforementioned qualifications, each member of the board of trustees of Saratoga Academy of the Arts and Sciences commits to the following:
- Belief in and support of the mission and vision of Saratoga Academy of the Arts and Sciences.
- Attendance at board and committee meetings.
- Willingness to volunteer for individual assignments on behalf of and by the board, including service on committees and fundraising endeavors.
- An expectation that all children can learn and can accomplish high academic achievement.
The Board supervises and holds accountable the performance of the school president, who is responsible for oversight of the day to day operation of the school. The Board of Trustees is also responsible for the establishment and maintenance of all policies governing the operation of the school.
